Volunteer Opportunities
The following is a list of “must have” and “nice to have” items that will help make our event day successful.  We
need sponsors that can donate the following items or can offer to provide at a substantially reduced cost.  If you
are interested in donating or trying to obtain a sponsor for one of these, please let me know and I will add your
name next to the item.

         Must Haves…

Parking Director – We need one or two adult men to control the parking lot for the Indoor Pavilion.  This is needed
just until the lot is full.  We can have the parking for our event (minus 8 spots for park employees).  Thus, we will
use this parking lot for volunteers, the media, the elderly and the ill.  Everyone else will park in the lots off the
“Freedom Park Service Drive.”

Signs – We will need at least 2 large signs for each main entrance off East Blvd.  Then, we need little signs that
have directional arrows to the parking area.  Finally, 2 signs at the parking lots to indicate park here.  Signs need
to poke in grass (we are not allowed to tape, staple, nail, etc.).  In addition, signs should not have the year so we
can re-use year after year.
  • Erica Messenheimer (works with Janet) will be making the signs.

Coffee & Tea – We need large pots of coffee & hot water for the morning and for lunch.  Along with sugar and
creamers.  This means coffee/water urns, coffee, tea bags, sugar & creamer packages, Styrofoam cups, stirrers,
etc.

Water – We would like to get at least 600 bottles of water, which equates to 25 cases of 24 bottles.

Juices & Sodas – For the picnic lunch we should have at least 100+ juices for the children and 400+ sodas for
adults.

Food & Snacks – We need help with planning the menu and we would like to get some businesses to help sponsor
food items.

Photographers – We need two people to take pictures throughout the event.  Anyone who has a digital camera and
can create a CD is qualified!  We want to be able to post pictures of the event on the web-site.
  • April Ham

Setup & Registration – We need 10 volunteers to help drive supplies, food, etc. to the park very early in the
morning.  The Pavilion will open at 7am so we will need to be there right when it opens to prepare for 9am check-in
and registration.  Also, we would like SUV’s but autos are fine.  I will prepare a setup schedule as we get closer to
the event.

Food & Beverage Management – We need people to monitor the food, snacks and beverages to ensure they are
available.

Event Flyer – This is for everyone!  Please print the event flyer and make copies.  Then when you are out and
about, ask every place you go if they can display the flyer to advertise our walk.  The more this gets posted, the
more people we will reach.

Children's Fun - Rebecca Szer and Hannah Caddell are working on the activities for the children.  They may need
some additional help or ideas.

Cleanup – We need many volunteers to help cleanup all the areas we rented from 4pm-5pm.

                     Nice to Haves…

Balloons – We would like to get lots of balloons for inside the Pavilion and maybe a few around the perimeters.  We
would prefer green and white to match the “Making Tracks for Celiacs” & Green Feet theme.

Music – We can have boom boxes.  Therefore, we need one or two people who want to be in charge of the music.  The
music should be suitable to all and vary according to the time as well as be fun!

Note:  We will be having large poster boards displaying company logos that have helped to sponsor this event.  We
will also display their company literature for participants to take.
