Summary
MILESTONE EVENT!!! We had 40 people at today’s luncheon, which is a new record. I think we
might have had equally new and existing members. We pretty much had almost half the restaurant
well maybe not exactly but we took up almost the entire back section. It was a wonderful
afternoon and Carrabba’s is one of our favorite places because they really make us feel welcomed.
They truly understand our condition and take it very seriously. Many of us tried new dishes and a
few us could not resist trying the John Cole dessert, everything was delicious!
This is a short summary because I still have a ways to go for my concussion to heal and I’m
thoroughly exhausted. I can tell you though from looking around the room, everyone looked very
engaged in conversation and there was never a lull. People were taking many notes (writing on the
index cards I provide at every table). We shared places to shop, things to try and even how to
make some old recipes gluten-free.. I may even be able to make our family Poteca this Christmas!
We are marching forward with our FIRST WALK...and making good progress! Please try and
register early. We really need to get a good count so that we have sufficient food and beverages.
If you register early, you will also be guaranteed a T-Shirt as well as promo items. If you’re not
sure how to register or you may have questions on how to collect (do I send an email link or what if
I want to collect cash, are there receipts). Please give me a call at (704) 442-22997 or drop me a
note (email button on the top left of every page) and I’ll be glad to answer all your questions.
Our regular monthly luncheons will resume after the walk probably in early June. If you want to
get involved in the walk, then please look at the volunteer page and call or email me with your
preference. Maybe we’ve overlooked something, so please let us know that too, planning an event
this large is new for us. We really need your help!
Have fun raising money for research and spreading awareness at the same time. Thank you in
advance for your participation and support. I think the saying is it takes a village to raise a
child… well, it also takes a village to get recognized!
Warm Regards, Janet
