Welcome!  We are a very informal and growing support group serving the
Charlotte, NC area.  Janet was diagnosed with celiac disease in October
2003.  Janet founded the Charlotte Celiac Connection support group in April
2005 and launched this web-site shortly thereafter.  Phylis was diagnosed in
September 2004 after suffering for 11 years!  Carol is the mother of
Rebecca, a young teenager diagnosed with celiac at the age of nine.  Janet &
Phylis support the Charlotte, NC area and Carol supports the South Carolina
area.

Each of us have experienced the struggles of this complex medical condition
and managing the many challenges it presents.  We know how important it is
to share and learn from each other.  So, we are committed to providing a
place where celiacs and family or friends of celiacs can meet on a monthly
basis.  The purpose of the monthly luncheons is to ask each other questions,
share concerns and experiences as well as share learnings.  Our group also
reaches out to help individuals who have been newly diagnosed by advertising,
talking with store managers, doctors and restaurant managers. We are
driven to increase celiac awareness, raise funds for research and make a
difference in the life of a person diagnosed with celiac disease in Charlotte,
NC area.

We meet at local area restaurants that provide a gluten-free menu.  By
meeting at restaurants, it helps us learn to feel comfortable eating out
again.  We try to meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month at noon.
Sometimes this will vary depending on the restaurant and/or month.  There
is no fee to join and the only cost is your lunch bill!

Warm Regards,
Janet, Founder & President
(janet@charlotte-celiac-connection.org)
Phylis, Vice President, Charlotte (phylis@charlotte-celiac-connection.org)
Carol, Vice President, S. Carolina area (celiacconnection@aol.com)
